I was talking to a friend the other she was asking about the factory service procedures for her 07 Honda CRV. She was planning on taking it to the dealer and was quoted $99 for changing a micron filter. She asked me what a micron filter was. I told her I wasn’t sure but I had never heard of it so i would check it out for her.

A quick google search found it is a fancy name for a cabin air filter!!! 99 dollars for a cabin air filter. I hope it cures asthma for that price. I scrolled down and I found one for 12.70! Are you kidding me? The Honda Dealership was going to charge her almost 100 bucks to change a cabin air filter! I was appalled.

It not even a hard job to do! I looked up how to do it on Alldata and all you have to do is remove the glove box by squeezing the sides together and replacing the filter behind a door!

It just shows how you should do your research before getting that “micron filter” changed.

Where the rubber meets the road… Tire pressure is essential to getting from point A to B safely.

Under inflated tire

If your tire is under-inflated by as little as 6 psi:

  • Uneven tire wear
  • 5% reduction in MPGs
  • Tire wear is accelerated by as much as 25%
  • Tire failure or Blow out

Tire pressure rises or lowers itself by 1Psi for every 10 degrees Fahrenheit.

You Should always set your tire pressure in the morning so they will not lose pressure as the day heats up. Some days the temperature can easily change up to 50 degrees and then you can lose as much as 5psi of air pressure…

The best place to find the proper inflation is in the owners manual. NOT on what is written on the sidewall of the tire that is just the min and max of what the tire can be set at.

For information on tread depth Go Here and for more information on tires and the source of the data used in this article i recommend reading some info on Tire Rack
